Philippine Music, Culture, and Diplomats Honored at Church Concert

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint’s On-nuri Choir recently joined members of the Filipino community and the Consul of the Embassy of the Philippines to celebrate the unique beauty of Philippine music and culture. The special event was called the On-nuri Choir Philippines Music Night and was held in Yeongdeungpo City, Seoul.

“We appreciate the long history of trust and support between the nations of Korea and the Philippines,” said Mr. Aian A. Caringal, Consul for the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines, who attended and spoke at the event. “We also thank the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the On-nuri Choir for this wonderful concert celebrating the music and culture of the Philippines.”

In addition to musical performances, several multimedia presentations explained the common history and cooperative development between the two nations. The presentations also showed the parallel growth of the Church in both countries.

The On-nuri Choir performs a variety of sacred and secular music and is conducted by Hye-won Ko.  As the name On-nuri implies, the Choir’s goal is to introduce music from all over the world. Over the years performances have featured music from many nations and cultures.
